Nationwide Service
Moving across state lines or across the country? We're equipped to take you wherever you need to go with the continental US.
At American Van Lines, we understand that moving is a major milestone, and it can be scary to trust your personal belongings with just any mover. Lucky for you, trust is everything to us.
Unlike other moving companies, American Van Lines only employs full-time — and fully trained — moving crew members, not contract labor or part-time employees. We've built a reputation for reliability and skill that consistently earns us recognition from national publications and corporations that pick us to handle their relocations. And we are upfront and transparent about our costs — some of the most affordable in the industry — so you won't be surprised by the final bill.

Climate and Weather
Michigan has a continental climate, although there are two distinct regions. The southern and central parts of the Lower Peninsula (south of Saginaw Bay and from the Grand Rapids area southward) have a warmer climate with hot summers and cold winters. The northern part of the Lower Peninsula and the entire Upper Peninsula has a more severe climate (Köppen Dfb), with warm, but shorter summers and longer, cold to very cold winters. Some parts of the state average high temperatures below freezing from December through February, and into early March in the far northern parts. During the winter through the middle of February, the state is frequently subjected to heavy lake-effect snow. The state averages 30 days of thunderstorm activity per year. These can be severe, especially in the southern part of the state. The state averages 17 tornadoes per year, which are more common in the state's extreme southern section. Temperatures can hit as high as 81 in the summer, and winters range from 14 to 29.
Education
Michigan is home to a variety of public and private schools, as well as reputable higher education institutions. University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and Michigan Technological University are well-known for their academic programs and research opportunities.

Why AVL Beats DIY
DIY Is Not Always the Bargain It Seems
It might be tempting to try to tackle your move on your own. But DIY isn't as cheap as people think. Between fuel costs, tolls, rental fees, and potential repairs, the budget-friendly option can turn expensive fast.
Personalized Moving Plan
American Van Lines offers something different: transparent, flat-rate pricing with no surprises. We'll design a personalized moving plan that works for your needs and stays within your budget, making full-service moving a realistic and stress-free option.
Cheaper Isn't Always Better
Packing everything yourself, hauling heavy furniture, and driving an unfamiliar truck isn't just exhausting, it's also risky. From expert packing and loading to reassembling furniture at your destination, we take care of the hard work.
Award-Winning Service You Can Trust
When it comes to long-distance moves in Michigan, American Van Lines stands out as a top choice. But don't just take our word for it — we've been named among the industry's elite by multiple trusted sources.
