I enjoyed working with the AVL team. Toni took care of me and answered all my questions that I had. And I had a lot. She was wonderful to work with! Then when it came time to move, I dealt with Mike and his crew and they were great. They took great care in packing all our stuff. Almost too great!! We had a lot of packing paper and boxes to get rid of. They packed and loaded our whole house in 2 days and had everything unloaded and put together (like the beds) in a half day. Nothing was broken or damaged. Thx guys!! I would recommend AVL to anyone!!

The process of setting up the move on the phone was straightforward. They communicated every step we took to complete this move-out, smoothly. They answered all my questions clearly, the team lead, promptly made the phone calls to ensure that our things are correctly accounted for. Nancy and Terri, two of our moving coordinators, were easy to reach.

Here's a quick look at estimated costs based on home size:

Factors that Affect the Cost of Moving from New York to New Jersey

Moving costs aren't one-size-fits-all, and a few key details can make your total price go up or down. Here are the most common factors that affect how much your move will cost.

  • Timing of your move: Prices tend to spike during peak moving season (especially summer), and moves booked on weekends or at the beginning or end of the month often cost more.
  • Professional vs. DIY: Choosing between a DIY move and hiring a full-service mover such as American Van Lines can make a big difference in your overall cost and experience. DIY can cost less upfront, but you'll be on the hook for the packing, heavy lifting, and logistics, while AVL takes care of the hard work for you, making the move smoother, safer, and far less stressful.
  • Exact distance: Longer moves generally come with higher quotes, and even small changes in mileage between your current home and your new one can affect the total cost.
  • Size of move: The more rooms (and stuff) you're moving, the more labor, time, and truck space you'll need, which usually means a higher overall price.
Getting a moving quote is simple. It's fast & easy - no obligations!
