We used AVL after researching multiple interstate moving companies. We spoke directly with AVL management to let them know of the special timeline we were on for our move, once management understood our compressed timeline, they were able to fully accommodate us and execute the move flawlessly. I would like to point out that they maintained excellent communications from all of their team members to us during all aspects of the move. Our truck arrived on time, there were no issues with loading, the truck arrived on time at the destination( no damage or breakage). I would like to especially commend Jairo(our driver/lead man for both ends of the trip) on his outstanding organization and task delegating skill set. The moves on both ends were on time and seamless. All members of AVL deserve high praise for their understanding of the issues and for getting the right van and people to execute this move to perfection. Thanks again: Jay, Shabrina, Jairo and Dan. Thank you, Pete Zec

Here's a quick look at estimated costs based on home size:

Home Size Estimated Cost
1 Bedroom $2,539 - $5,255
2 Bedrooms $2,674 - $5,974
3 Bedrooms $4,010 - $6,824

Factors that Affect the Cost of Moving from North Dakota to Kansas

Moving prices can fluctuate depending on the details of your relocation. These are the most common factors that can raise or lower the cost of your move.

  • Timing of your move: Costs are usually higher during peak season, with summer being the busiest time. You may also see higher pricing for weekends and for moves scheduled early or late in the month.
  • Professional vs. DIY: DIY can look cheaper on paper, but it requires you to manage the packing, lifting, and planning yourself. A full-service mover like American Van Lines can be a better value for the convenience and support, since AVL takes care of the heavy lifting and keeps the process less stressful.
  • Exact distance: Longer routes tend to cost more, and the exact mileage between your current home and your new one can also influence your final quote.
  • Size of move: The amount you are moving matters. Larger homes and bigger loads require more crew time and more space on the truck, which typically increases the price.
Getting a moving quote is simple. It's fast & easy - no obligations!

Tips for Moving From North Dakota to Kansas

  • Do a quick "logistics check" a week out. Confirm your timeline, addresses, and contact numbers so everyone is on the same page.
  • Separate what you're not moving. Set aside donation piles, trash, and items you're keeping with you so they don't accidentally end up on the truck.
  • Label boxes with priority levels. Mark boxes as "open first," "open later," or "storage" so unpacking in Kansas feels much more manageable.
  • Give yourself a buffer. Build in extra time for delays, weather, or traffic so your move doesn't feel like a race.
