Pompano Beach, FL, is in eastern Broward County, south of Deerfield Beach. The town of more than 112,000 features a three-mile beachfront that runs south from State Road A1A to the Hillsboro Inlet. It’s a large city, covering more than 24 square miles, that extends west from the Atlantic Ocean to the Florida Turnpike. It’s located generally south of Sample Road and north of Pompano Beach Airpark, between Route 1 and Dixie Highway. There are roughly 1,000 homes in Cresthaven.

Houses in central Pompano Beach have remained surprisingly affordable for the region. Residences in Cresthave sold for an average of $395,000 in mid-2024, according to real estate broker Redfin. Ratings from the school-ratings website Greatschools.com for the public schools Cresthaven children are most likely to attend include:

  • Cresthaven Elementary. Rated 6 out of 10 with 3.9 reviews (511 students)
  • Pompano Beach Middle. Rated 3 out of 10 with 2.0 reviews (1,039 students)
  • Pompano Beach High. Rated 9 out of 10 with 3.6 reviews (1,213 students)

Cresthaven features single-family homes, townhomes, and condominiums. Dixie Highway, to the west of the neighborhood, is a mostly industrial street. On the other side of the community, Route 1 offers plenty of small shopping destinations, eateries, and places to buy stuff. Three interesting locations to visit in Cresthaven are:

  1. Cresthaven Park – this small 1.5-acre community park features a walking path, a playground and a volleyball court. It’s the perfect place for a family gathering.

Pompano Beach Highlands in northeastern Pompano Beach is another affordable neighborhood east of I-95 and west of Dixie Highway. The area, which lies north of Sample Road and south of N. 48th Street, has around 2,500 homes. It’s close to the hospital.

The Highlands is almost completely residential, with a few scattered small businesses. Deerfield Highlands Nature Preserve in the southern part of the neighborhood offers some nice community green space. Three interesting business locations in the community include:

  1. Broward Health North – this hospital in southwestern Highlands is a level II trauma care center with over 400 beds that features a new emergency room.
  2. Breezy Hill Resort – this recreational vehicle resort two miles from the beach has an on-site swimming pool with a clubhouse. Reservations are required.
  3. Riva Motorsports – this motorsports store on Dixie Highway specializes in motorcycles, boats, ATVs, and UTVs. Financing, services, and parts are available.

Neighborhood in Pompano: Kendall Green

Kendall Green in southwest Pompano Beach, east of I-95, is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in town. Comprised of around a thousand homes, this residential district is south of Sample Road and north of NW 15th Street Between I-95 and Dixie Highway. It’s one of the town’s premier neighborhoods. 

Houses in Kendall Green were going for a median sales price around $395,000 in mid-2024, according to real estate broker Redfin. The neighborhood features the town’s top-ranked elementary school. Greatschools.com ratings for the main schools attended by Kendall Green students include:

  • Palmview Elementary. Rated 7 out of 10 with 3.2 reviews (567 students)
  • Crystal Lake Middle. Rated 3 out of 10 with 3.4 reviews (1,264 students)
  • Blanche Ely High. Rated 2 out of 10 with 3.5 reviews (2,027 students)

Kendall Green contains mainly ranch-style homes with stucco exteriors. East Copans Road, loaded with active strip malls, runs east-west through the middle of the neighborhood. An airport borders the community on its southeast side. Three cool places to check out in Kendall Green include:

  1. Pompano Beach Airpark – this small, city-owned public airport is located less than mile from the city center. The Goodyear Blimp is based at the facility.
  2. Northwest Branch Library – this regional library contains books, DVDs, CDs and audiobooks for lending. The library has more than 100 computers available.

Neighborhood in Pompano: Northwest Pompano

Northwest Pompano is a community of nearly 6,000 homes in northern Pompano Beach west of I-95. The large neighborhood is south of Sample Road and north of Atlantic Boulevard between the interstate and the Florida Turnpike. The housing community is the largest in Pompano Beach.

Places to live in Northwest Pompano are among the most affordable in town. The median sales price of a Northwest Pompano residence was around $345,000 in mid-2024, according to real estate broker Redfin. The main schools that kids from the neighborhood attend have large student populations, including:

  • Norcrest Elementary. Rated 5 out of 10 with 4.2 reviews (691 students).

Northwest Pompano is populated mainly with ranch-style, single-family homes. The area also features a number of single-level, multi-unit apartment buildings. The main campus of Broward County Community College is in the neighborhood. Three of the main attractions near Northwest Pompano are:
