American Van Lines works with the Alzheimer’s Association to Help End Alzheimer’s
Memory walks to help end Alzheimer’s are held around the country year round. American Van Lines supports Alzheimer’s research by participating in this event and pledging long-term support.
Anthony DiSorbo, the president of American Van Lines, is proud to announce the participation of the moving company in the upcoming Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk in support of Alzheimer’s research and prevention.
An American Van Lines moving truck will be themed in the Alzheimer’s Association’s logo and colors to help keep the Memory Walk and the issue of Alzheimer’s fresh in the minds of our community throughout the entire year. The employees at American Van Lines are generously donating to these efforts and our company will match all employee donations.
Alzheimer’s is a disease that causes memory loss and affects overall brain function. Over five million people suffer from Alzheimer’s and it’s the sixth leading cause of death in our country. Sadly, with each passing year these figures rise. In an effort to further Alzheimer’s research, American Van Lines has pledged long-term support for this cause.
The South Florida Memory Walks is held in Broward, Palm Beach, and Treasure Coast Counties. See Walk to End Alzheimer’s® for date, time and locations. This is a spirited community event that offers a golden opportunity to get to know and meet members of our society and to learn more about Alzheimer’s. Participants enjoy a 5K walk, raffle drawings, giveaways and more. To promote friendly competition, contestants are encouraged to form teams in order to meet certain goals. Raising $100 or more will secure a team’s place at the free breakfast table on the day of the walk. Teams with at least 30 registered walkers and $3000 raised can beat the heat under a program sponsored tent complete with table and chairs!
Raising money for research is indeed an important aspect of affecting change, but we wanted to do something that would help us have an immediate impact on our community. As a result, the Alzheimer’s Association has trained our staff and movers in the most effective ways to care for Alzheimer’s patients during a move. We’re the only moving company in South Florida with this special training and we’re confident that this will help us better serve our customers.
The Alzheimer’s Association has conducted ground-breaking research and has celebrated many milestones in finding suitable treatment, discovering the warning signs and possible preventive measures for Alzheimer’s. But a lot more is needed to find a cure and researchers believe a breakthrough is possible in the next few years.
We’re hoping that our participation will make a difference and we’re certain that if everyone plays a part in these efforts, we can truly make an impact. There are over 600 walks nationwide, visit http://www.alz.org/walk to find a memory walk near you.
